Spil Games is to reactivate the groundbreaking artificial life game, Creatures, for a new audience on mobile and web. The company has acquired theCreatures IP from Bigben Interactive and has big plans to once again make the game a huge hit with players.

“Iconic brands, like Creatures, will be the cornerstone of Spil Games’ long term strategy,” says Tung Nguyen-Khac, the firm’s CEO. “And this is just the start. You will see a number of significant new mobile games emerging from Spil Games this year.”

Creatures was first launched in 1996 on PC and became a firm favourite with players because of its innovative artificial life mechanics. The game sold over 3.5 million copies and had an estimated 5million + engaged community following.

The first full-blown free2play mobile “Creatures Family” game will be ready in 2017 targeting players 20yrs old and above. In the meantime, Spil Games will keep fans happy with a series of multi-platform teaser games starting this summer.
These are designed to delight the existing Creatures fan base, while igniting enthusiasm with a fresh new audience in anticipation
for the 2017 release.

Notes for Editors:

Spil Games is a publisher and distributor with more than 100 million monthly active users (MAUs) in native, mobile and web gaming.

Under new leadership, Spil has made the transition into mobile and achieved huge steps forward in the global app stores. In 2015, the company increased organically its weekly mobile installs by 1000%, reaching 2.6m weekly new installs in December. As a result, the company raced up App Annie’s publisher install ranks: it is now a top 30 publisher on Google Play and a top 90 publisher on iOS. The cumulative new installs exceeded 50m in 2015 and, with a powerful games line up, the company confidently expects to double that figure in 2016 as well as see a significant increase in its more than 1.5m DAUs (as of February 2016).
