The 22 best Unsung Heroes games have been announced by Spil Games in a shortlist of competition semifinalists.
There was a huge response from developers who entered over 300 games in the Unsung Heroes competition.
“It was a heart-breaking job losing so many excellent games to reach our shortlist,” says Tung Nguyen-Khac, CEO of Spil Games. “The standard of entries really impressed me. It just shows what players are missing out on when these games fall short of their potential in the app stores.”
The idea behind the Unsung Heroes Competition is to give great games a better chance to reach the audiences they deserve. Too many are falling into the black hole of the app stores and the competition is a way to get players to try them out. Everyone who entered has received increased publicity for their games.
The public will get to vote on the semifinalist games at PocketGamer.co.uk increasing player exposure still further. Gamers are being encouraged to try out these games and see which they think deserve a better shot in the app stores.
The final winner will be decided by judges from Spil Games but they will take the public vote very much into account.
“I’m intrigued to see what players make of our Unsung Heroes games,” says Tung Nguyen-Khac. “The developers have all showed innovation and creative flair, and I think their games deserve the greater attention they will receive.”
In addition to the PocketGamer.co.uk vote, a special website has been set up to showcase the semifinalists. The Unsung Heroes Competition Facebook page remains active where you can see details of all the entries and leave comments for their developers.
